ABRAKURRIE CAVE is about 50k north west of Eucla and is reported to have the largest single cave chamber in the southern hemisphere and aboriginal hand stencils which are evidence of the deepest penetration of aboriginal art in any cave system. Visits to the cave have been occurring from as early as the 1880s and the first recorded “expedition” was back in 1935, imagine going almost 1k underground with the equipment that they had back then, probably carbide torches! Strangely, hardly any photos by any of us other than Dirk were taken in this cave. Perhaps the magnitude of the chamber wasn’t captured by normal cameras.

Yes, I’d really forgotten about this cave, and in a lot of ways it was the most impressive, that cavern was awesome.
