Another Adventure with M (Marcia)

EVANS CROWN – 18 June 2023
There’s no doubt about it, Marcia knows where all the “good” spots are, particularly those that are photo opportunities.  We’d planned had a big day on the Saturday doing SRT practice, then planned to headed over to Marcia’s for a Naughty (K)notting Night and dinner, and were wondering what we could do on the Sunday to make a full weekend of it, and Marcia came up with Evans Crown.  I haven’t been there before, so I was keen. Return to Glenrock

GLENROCK STATION, NSW – 9-12 June 2023
In the past, each time I’ve visited Glenrock I’ve said “pretty sure I wont be going back again”, but then I find myself on yet another trip there.  This time I think I’ve finally come to realise that this is a really good place to go, yes the caves are small, but they’re pretty much all vertical, and I SHOULD be doing more vertical caves. SOUTH COAST, NSW – 18 – 21 May 2023
When Trish put the Murramarang South Coast Walk on the calendar a couple of months ago, it sounded like a good idea, I’d always wanted to explore further down the NSW coast.  The walk started inauspiciously with me saying “I don’t really like walking on sand” and from Trish “What do you mean? It’s almost all on beaches!” … “Ah, yes, well, I’m sure it will be fine I’ll be able to walk on the hard packed sand!”  Amazingly, I didn’t mind the sand! Continue reading

Next level caving!

OLD HOMESTEAD CAVE, NULLARBOR – 27 April 2023
One of the activities during the 2023 ASF Post Conference Caving Week was a rescue scenario, so that some of the participants could practise the skills needed to rescue an injured person from a remote cave.  It’s important to note that in a place such as the Nullarbor, if there was an injury and the person couldn’t physically get themselves out, it might be days that they’d be waiting for the cavalry (a specially trained Cave Rescue Team) to turn up!
