Ledges, Slots and Climbs!

NORTHERN WOLLEMI – 20 – 22 October 2017
A chance to go on a trip with John G should never be passed up, so when he said he was doing some exploratory bushwalks looking for “slots” in the Coorongooba area, I was “in like Flynn” (an Aussie expression).  Little did I know rock climbing would be involved! Continue reading

Cave Surveying 101!

WOMBEYAN CAVES – 14 – 15 October, 2017
I’d heard about surveying caves, but didn’t have a clue as to how to do it, and MSS doesn’t do enough caving for me to learn “on the job” so to speak.  So, I Googled cave surveying and found Mike L (from SUSS), who in the past had run courses.  I asked around and there were enough people interested that Mike would run a course for us. Is it warm enough yet for a wet canyon?

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS – 30 September – 1 October 2017
So, the conversation went like this … (me) “So, Murray, you think the full length of Macquarie Rivulet will be do-able on the October Long Weekend? Will it be warm enough?” … (Murray) “Yeah, should be fine!”  So, six months ago, the date was set! Continue reading
