In search of Oliver’s pass & campsite

thumbnailOn a recent walk to the Mini Western Arthurs in October, we’d walked downstream from our (almost perfect) grassy campsite, to take a look at a spot marked on Oliver’s map with a “C”, denoting “campsite”.  We were thwarted by a sheer cliff of about 30m, but peering down, it did look perfect and well worth marking on a map.  So, we determined that we’d have to return.  Continue reading →

Sometimes you just have to go back and “do it right the next time” … I’d had a shocker of a trip a few years ago when instead of taking some beginners up the Long Point Tourist track I inadvertently dragged them up King Pin Mountain and by the time I realised that we were in trouble it was too late to rectify the situation (but that’s a whole other story). Malita Point by Moonlight

As Brad M and I were driving home (at 1am) last night, we considered that most people would think we were nuts, we’d just driven a 5 hour round trip for 3 hours of abseiling and a 50 minute walk out.  BUT, it was worth it, abseiling by moonlight is spectacular. Continue reading →
