A chilly, wet walk in Namadgi

thumbnailNAMADGI MULTI DAY WALK – ANZAC LWE – APRIL 2010
Yaouk > Lone Pine Trail > Mt Murray > Murray Gap > Bimberi Peak > Oldfields Hut > Mt Morgan > Lone Pine Trail > Yaouk
Not sure how we decided to go on this walk, but it seemed like a good idea at the time, but we obviously didn’t check the weather! Continue reading

I’d better do the Western Arthurs before I get much older

A small climb up on Day 4WESTERN ARTHURS, TASMANIA – FEBRUARY 2010
I’d heard a bit about the Western Arthurs … “fantastic”, “magic trip”, words like that.  I’m not sure I remember whose idea it was, could have been any of us, Peter C, Jeff B or me but I thought if ever I was going to do the trip it had better be now, I wasn’t getting any younger.  Jeff said that he’d be my “support” on the trip, if I really wanted to do it.  But if we did, we’d need to take a tent good enough to withstand all that Tasmania could throw at us, our bomb proof MSR Olympus, weighing in at a massive 3k!  Continue reading

Ettrema Gorge – April 2009

DSC00572Quiera Clearing > Jingles Pass > Ettrema Gorge > Transportation Spur
Ettrema Gorge, a creek which runs through Morton National Park, on its way to the Shoalhaven River … for those “in the know”, this is the ultimate in places to bushwalk, crystal clear pools, towering bluffs, and pockets of rainforest.
And we were here for four days over Easter, life doesn’t get much better than that.  Continue reading

Morong Deep #2 – we can do the section we missed last time?

Steve & Jen in the rapidsMORONG DEEP – JANUARY 2009
Morong Falls Fire Trail > Morong Creek > Kowmung River (Morong Deep) >Megalith Ridge
After we finished our Morong Adventure last year, we decided that we’d have to go back and complete the trip,  we’d already done the Kowmung  River Ford to Morong Creek (and a little ways beyond) section, so we weren’t going to do that section this time and we’d just drop down into the river at Morong Creek and do the section that we’d missed.  At least, that was the plan, didn’t quite work out that way.
