Koala rescue and another epic

Hartley’s Mistake & Bigfoot – 10 & 11 December 2016
Three times I had unsuccessfully tried to do the Hartley’s Mistake and Bigfoot combo (you have to camp in Deanes Creek to do both canyons) and finally I was going to get to cross it off my Wish List. As it turned out, it might have been better if I’d missed out on doing it, Sunday’s Bigfoot trip turned into a 15 hour epic. Continue reading

The BEST Beetroot Dip

AND, you can dehydrate it.  Beetroot, garlic, cashews, lemon juice … doesn’t get much better than this.  Jenny H sent me this recipe and I made up a batch and dried it (according to directions).  Took some out on my last trip, added a little water and hey presto! Old favourite canyons

Geronimo and Yileen Canyons – 12 & 13 November 2016
After 4 trips down Geronimo Canyon and 2 to Yileen, a return to both wouldn’t really be blog-worthy, but given that the last time I was in Geronimo was 2010 and the last time I did Yileen was in 2001, it was like visiting the canyons for the very first time.  But it really became blog-worth when the track that used to be well worn to Geronimo was virtually non-existent, involving an unusual entry into the creek. Pilcher by Night

thumbnail2Pilcher/Juggler Canyon – 5 November 2016
It was meant to be a quiet weekend but sometimes there’s just too much to do!   I had persuaded Albert and Eli to go and do Pilcher by Night on Saturday night, David S came along for the ride, then I managed to squeeze some rock climbing (if you can call it that), and parasailing into the weekend, it’s no wonder I’m a little average today.
